Outdoor Stadium LED Display Solution
Stadium Outdoor LED Screen Built for Live Sports, Long Viewing Distances and All-Weather Operation
Highcolor engineers large-format outdoor stadium LED screens for live video, instant replay, scores, event information and sponsor content—configured around viewing distance, sunlight, weather exposure, camera use and venue structure.

Made for the seating bowl
One Main Screen, Several Jobs During Every Match
The main outdoor stadium LED screen is often the venue's largest visual surface. It needs to remain readable from distant seating while switching between live camera feeds, replays, scoring, player information, announcements and commercial content.
That makes stadium specification different from selecting a conventional outdoor billboard. The screen must be designed around spectator sightlines, fast-motion content, broadcast cameras, event schedules, weather exposure, structural loads and service access.
Primary applications
What an Outdoor Stadium LED Screen Can Do
A well-planned main display combines event operations, spectator experience and commercial content instead of functioning as a single-purpose scoreboard.
Live Video & Replay
Display live camera feeds, close-ups and replay content so spectators across large seating areas can follow critical moments.
Scoreboard Information
Combine video with scores, clocks, statistics, player names and sport-specific match information.
Sponsor Advertising
Schedule branded graphics, video advertising and event sponsorship content on a high-visibility venue asset.
Fan Engagement
Use player introductions, crowd prompts, celebrations, social content and interactive segments to support the event atmosphere.
Event Information
Publish schedules, safety messages, announcements, weather information and other venue communications.
Multi-Screen Integration
Coordinate the main display with ribbon boards, perimeter advertising and other LED systems through the venue's content workflow.
Specification strategy
How to Choose the Right Outdoor Stadium LED Screen
Pixel pitch alone does not determine whether a stadium display is suitable. Start with the venue geometry and content workflow, then define the LED specification.
Send Venue Drawings →Viewing distance determines useful resolution
A large screen viewed from distant stands can use a wider pixel pitch than a screen serving closer seating. Screen dimensions and required content detail should be evaluated together.
Sunlight determines brightness requirements
Outdoor screens need enough luminance and contrast for daytime events. Highcolor's current fixed outdoor P3–P8 range is published at ≥6000 cd/m².
Broadcast use raises refresh requirements
If the screen appears frequently on professional cameras, refresh rate, grayscale, processing and camera compatibility should be confirmed as part of the project configuration.
Weather protection must match installation
Highcolor's current outdoor range states IP65 front and IP54 rear protection. Cabinet sealing, drainage, heat management and rear exposure still need to be evaluated for the actual structure.
Maintenance access affects cabinet design
Rear service corridors are common on large stadium structures, while constrained installations may require front-access solutions. Confirm service space before final cabinet selection.
Highcolor planning specification
Outdoor LED Screen Options for Stadium Projects
The following values are based on Highcolor's currently published fixed outdoor LED display specifications. Final stadium configuration should be confirmed for the project.
Highcolor's current outdoor product page additionally states IP65 front / IP54 rear protection, 5500–6500 cd/m² brightness in its FAQ, optional front or rear maintenance, and an operating range of -30°C to 60°C. Confirm the final production specification in the quotation because configuration may vary by project.
Stadium performance priorities
Designed Around What Happens on Match Day
Visibility in bright conditions
High-brightness outdoor configurations help maintain readable video, scores and sponsor graphics during daytime events.
Smoother captured video
High-refresh configurations can reduce visible scan lines and flicker when venue screens appear in live camera footage.
Outdoor protection
Weather-resistant modules and cabinets are configured for rain, dust, moisture and the environmental conditions of the venue.
Maintainable for the long term
Modular construction and planned service access help reduce disruption when modules, power supplies or control components require maintenance.
Beyond the main video board
Connect the Outdoor Screen to the Wider Stadium Display System
The main video screen often works together with specialist displays around the field and seating bowl.

Tianjin Olympic Center Diving & Swimming Pool

Project Engineering Based on the Environment
Highcolor's published Tianjin Olympic Center case demonstrates why sports displays should be configured around the venue rather than selected from a generic specification sheet. For the diving and swimming environment, Highcolor states that the screen uses IP68 waterproof protection, AB-glue sealing on both sides and Nationstar 3535 copper-wire LEDs.

Outdoor Stadium LED Screen Questions
What pixel pitch is best for an outdoor stadium LED screen?
There is no single best pitch. It depends on minimum viewing distance, screen dimensions, required resolution and content. Highcolor’s currently published fixed outdoor range includes P3, P4, P5, P6 and P8. For large screens viewed mainly from distant seating, wider pitches can be more economical; closer viewing or detailed content can justify finer pitches.
How bright should a stadium outdoor LED screen be?
Brightness should be selected according to screen orientation, direct sunlight and event schedule. Highcolor’s current fixed outdoor P3–P8 specification table lists ≥6000 cd/m², while its outdoor FAQ describes a 5500–6500 cd/m² range. Final brightness should be confirmed for the exact project.
What waterproof rating does Highcolor use for outdoor LED displays?
Highcolor’s current general outdoor display page states IP65 protection at the front and IP54 at the rear. Some specialized projects use higher protection—for example, Highcolor’s published Tianjin Olympic Center aquatic project states IP68. The appropriate enclosure design depends on installation exposure and project requirements.
Does a stadium LED screen need a high refresh rate?
A high refresh rate is particularly important when the screen is filmed by broadcast or venue cameras and when fast-moving sports video is displayed. The exact refresh target should be specified together with the control system, grayscale and camera requirements rather than treated as an isolated number.
Can the same screen show live video, score data and advertising?
Yes. The display can switch or combine live feeds, replay, scoring, player information, announcements and sponsor content. The complete workflow depends on the venue’s scoring source, video processing, content system and required screen layouts.
What information is needed for a stadium LED quotation?
Send the venue and sport type, screen location, width and height, minimum and maximum viewing distance, indoor/outdoor exposure, required functions, target installation date, project country and any available architectural or structural drawings. Also tell us whether the screen will appear on broadcast cameras.
Can Highcolor provide front-maintenance stadium screens?
Highcolor’s current outdoor product information states that front and rear maintenance options are available. The appropriate approach depends on structural depth, rear access and screen size, so maintenance direction should be decided during project design.
